Sioux Falls is the state's commercial centre and holds half the listings on its own. Pierre is the state capital and the address of record for a large number of South Dakota businesses, so treat its count as covering the central corridor rather than as capacity concentrated in one small town on the Missouri.

Rapid City anchors the west and is the more interesting market of the two ends. It is the gateway to the Black Hills, it hosts South Dakota Mines with its materials and metallurgical engineering programmes, and Ellsworth Air Force Base sits fifteen minutes east. Three listings understates what is actually available there; it is a market where the additive work is embedded in engineering and manufacturing firms rather than advertised as a printing service.

Humboldt appears once, and that single listing is the most capable entry in the state on paper — the only South Dakota provider with process and material coverage recorded in the directory, spanning FDM, SLA/DLP, SLS/MJF and metal, in PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU and stainless steel. It sits about twenty minutes west of Sioux Falls on I-90, so treat it as part of the Sioux Falls market rather than a separate one.

Several absences matter more than any of these counts. Brookings is home to South Dakota State University and a substantial electronics manufacturer, and carries no listing of its own. Aberdeen, Watertown, Mitchell and Yankton are the same story: genuine short-line manufacturing and fabrication demand, no listing yet.
